Updated contact information and list of officers for the Francestown Improvement and Historical Society (FIHS).

Wednesday, 30th August 2006

Added the Labor Day 2006 page, containing the schedule of events for this year's Labor Day celebration.

Wednesday, 14th June 2006

Added [Print this page] links to each page, to create a printer-friendly version of each page (without the banner at the top and the menu down the left side). This also strips out any images on the page.

Thursday, 1st June 2006

Added sale information ($5.00 off Kerio Personal Firewall) to the Links page

Thursday, 4th May 2006

The National Weather Service changed their page again, slightly; had to adjust the search strings to get the "Last Update" string correctly.

Saturday, 22nd April 2006

Fixed the Home page; it was not displaying correctly in Internet Explorer. Also, added Firefox and Thunderbird to the Links page.

Thursday, 20th April 2006

Updated the Download page with the minutes from the Heritage Commission meeting in April, and the Francestown Water Company newsletter from January 2006.

Saturday, 1st April 2006

Updated the Town Meeting page with the results. Thanks to Sarah Pyle for the details!

Thursday, 23rd March 2006

Updated the Town Election page to reflect the new vote totals from the recount held on Tueday 21 March 2006.

Friday, 17th March 2006

Added the number of voters on the checklist, and the total number of ballots cast to the Town Election page.

Wednesday, 15th March 2006

Fixed the Town Election page; the first item under the School Warrant section was supposed to go into the Town Offices section (electing the Conval School District moderator). Now the tables reflect how the ballots were actually printed.

Tuesday, 14th March 2006

Updated the Town Election page with the unofficial election results.

Monday, 13th March 2006

Oops! Spelled Steve Griffin's name wrong on the Town Election page. Sorry Steve!

Thursday, 9th March 2006

There have been complaints that the tag "write-in" following a candidate's name on the Town Election page seemed like an endorsement of that particular candidate. The page has been changed, removing the "write-in" tag, clarifying the status of the write-in candidates, and calling for other write-in candidates to let us know so we can add them to the list.

Sunday, 5th March 2006

Added the Town Election and Town Meeting pages for 2006.

Thursday, 4th February 2006

Added a new Links page, which contains various useful links. Currently, it lists the security software we recommend every Windows user have installed.

Added the minutes for the Heritage Commission's January meeting to the Download page.

Thursday, 15th December 2005

Added the minutes for the Heritage Commission's December meeting to the Download page.

Tuesday, 13th December 2005

Add the secret handshake to the home page so it won't get cached; sometimes you would see an old forecast, and this should ensure that the current forecast always appears.

Wednesday, 16th November 2005

Added the minutes for the Heritage Commission's November meeting to the Download page.

Thursday, 10th November 2005

Updated the Zoning Ordinance document on the Download page with the latest version (includes the 2005 amendments).

Monday, 31st October 2005

Updated the date on which Cronicle will air the Matt Savage piece; apparently, scheduling issues forced them to move it from October 31 to November 7.

Added the Farming Fun 4-H club to the Organizations page.

Saturday, 15th October 2005

Fixed the "Hazardous Weather" links (if present); the National Weather Service had changed them from absolute to relative links.

Sunday, 9th October 2005

Added the Lisa Phillip's email address to the entry for the Old Meeting House on the Organizations page.

Saturday, 1st October 2005

Added the Heritage Commission to the Town Government page, and the minutes for the last meeting to the Download page.

Thursday, 15th September 2005

Added the Site Plan Regulations document to the Download page, and moved the Zoning Regulations from the Planning Board section to the ZBA section (although the Planning board is responsible for producing the Zoning Regulations, most folks look for it in the Zoning Board materials).

Wednesday, 7th September 2005

The National Weather Service tweaked the formatting of their page again. Even though it was a small change, it was enough to prevent us from retrieving the current forecast.

Tuesday, 6th September 2005

Added pop-up menus for the Town Government, Organizations, and Download links along the left-hand side of the pages. Makes it easier to get right to where you're going, if you know where that is. Just hover over the link, and a menu of the different sections on that page will appear.

Thursday, 31st August 2005

Added the Francestown Village Water Company to the Organizations page, and added some related documents (kindly provided by Bill McAuley) to the Download page.

Added some of the Zoning Board of Adjustment forms to the Download page. More to come as soon as they are available.

Friday, 5th August 2005

Fixed a display problem on the Home Page when the forecast is not available from the National Weather Service.

Monday, 18th July 2005

Added the schedule of events for Labor Day 2005.

Added back the When's it Open? link to the menu. Not sure how it got lost, but it's been gone awhile and nobody noticed.

Tuesday, 11th July 2005

Updated FIHS officers and contact information on the Organizations page (thank to Priscilla Martin for the update!).

Wednesday, 8th June 2005

Updated notice on home page about the Garden Tour (seven gardens now, not eight; also make it clear that the tour plus lunch can only be booked through the 17th. After the 17th only the tour is available).

Changed the contact for the Francestown Recreation Department from Bub Rokes to Doug Langlois.

Sunday, 27th March 2005

Corrected the spelling of "cemetery" on the Town Election page. Thanks to Fletcher Taft for catching that one!

Updated the contact person for the Garden Club on the Organizations page. Also added the Garden Club meetings for the year to the Community Calendar. Thanks to Paul Hunter for the updated info (and apologies for taking so long to get it done).

Sunday, 20th March 2005

Added Town Election and Town Meeting results for 2005.

Sunday, 13th February 2005

Included a link to the page for Francestown on the state's Economic & Labor Market Information Bureau web site. Thanks to Pat Nelson for providing that link!

Improved the layout of the Home page by displaying the weather icons down the right-hand side, and including the hazardous weather warnings in a box with the National Weather Service link.

It appears that TierraNet upgraded to a newer version of PHP, which broke the calendar. It was issuing a warning about passing 0 as the length to the fread function. I added a check to read_str in ffdb.inc.php to only do the read if the calculated length is greater than 0.

Saturday, 22nd January 2005

Updated the entries on the Organizations page for the Francestown Community Preschool and the Garden Club.

Added a link on the left-hand side for Labor Day (2004).

The National Weather Service changed the format of their page slightly; as a result, the little graphics for each day's weather forecast stopped showing up. That has been fixed; in addition, if any hazardous weather conditions are posted, those are now shown as well.

Thursday, 23rd December 2004

A little bit of cleanup: removed the Labor Day notice from the Home page; edited the table headings on the Election Results page so they fit when the font size is increased a step or two.

Wednesday, 27th October 2004

Added an entry on the Organizations page for the Francestown Community Preschool.

Monday, 11th October 2004

Added a page containing the Labor Day 2004 results, including a new Photo Gallery (thanks to Jenny Fritz for providing the photos!).

Tuesday, 24rd August 2004

Added the schedule of events on the Labor Day 2004 page, and made some formatting changes.

Monday, 23rd August 2004

Added a note to the Home Page about the 2004 Labor Day Weekend. See the Labor Day 2004 page for more details.

Saturday, 3rd April 2004

Added the April events to the Community Calendar. Humblest apologies for not getting this done sooner!

Re-jiggered the calendar administration page to make it easier to add and modify entries.

Wednesday, 16th March 2004

On the Town Meeting page, corrected the spelling of “ammended”—it should be “amended”. Thanks to Fletcher Taft for catching that one; both your humble scrivener (who inserted the offending word) and his entire proofreading department missed it, despite the fact that Sarah Pyle (author of the original article) showed us the correct way to spell it.

Discovered how to turn on the spell checker in my HTML editor.

Added the Downloads page, containing links to all downloadable files.

Added a hit counter to track the number of visitors to our virtual community.

Monday, 15th March 2004

Added the Town Meeting page, presenting the results of the 2004 Francestown Town Meeting (courtesy of The Francestown News).

Updated the information for the Piscataquog Watershed Association (PWA) on the Organizations page (thanks to Pat Nelson for the update!).

With this day's changes, we are trying out some fun icons to mark the changes, instead of boring old bullets.

For nerds only: renamed the calendar.php file to index.php, so if you go to the Community Calendar directory you get the calendar, instead of a list of files.

Thursday, 11th March 2004

  • On the Organizations page, the Garden Club meets the fourth Monday of the Month, not the last Monday (thanks to Susan Avery for that correction!).

  • Added the Conservation Commission meeting to the Community Calendar for Monday 22 March 2004 at 7:30pm in the Town Office Meeting Room (thanks to Betsy Hardwick for that one!).

  • Added notes on how the Community Calendar works, since it is not obvious that the items are links.

Tuesday, 9th March 2004

  • Added the Organizations page, inspired by information from Pat Nelson about the Piscataquog Watershed Association (thank you, Pat!). Also included lots of additional information supplied by Sarah Pyle (thank you, Sarah!).

  • Updated Town Government page with information supplied by Sarah Pyle (thanks again, Sarah!). Added entries for the Conservation Commission and the Recreation Commission. Added contact information for each board.

  • For nerds only: collected all of the formatting into a Cascading Style Sheet (CSS), and changed all of the pages to use it, instead of duplicating the formatting instructions on every page. This helps ensure a consistent look for all pages.

Saturday, 6th March 2004

  • Added the Town Government page.

  • Changed the font used on all pages to something more readable.

Tuesday, 2nd March 2004

  • Fixed the date of establishment of the town on the home page. I had 1784, but as several people have pointed out, the signs at the town line say 1772. Egg on face!

  • Added a “What's New” page to track changes.

  • Added Jim Bolle's talk How to Tell Good Music from Not-So-Good Music to the Community Calendar (March 18th at 7:00pm in the Library).
